"The Words of the Lord are pure Words: as silver tried in a furnace
of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them
from this generation for ever." (Psalm 12:6-7)
DBS 2000: July 19 -
20 Annual Meeting in Elkton, MD
Dr. Allen P. Dickerson (Chancellor of the Maryland Baptist
Bible College and Pastor of the Maranatha Baptist Church) has graciously
invited our DEAN BURGON SOCIETY to his church for our 22nd annual meeting.
The Maranatha Baptist Church is located at 3141 Old Elk
Neck Road, Box 246, Elkton, Maryland. The phone number is 410-398-3764.
Please observe the church's DRESS CODE:
Ladies wear respectable skirts or dresses (no slacks). No shorts for men or
women at our meetings.
The dates for our 22nd annual meeting of our DEAN BURGON
SOCIETY have been set for Wednesday and Thursday, July 19-20, 2000.
We hope you can set aside these dates for this July and join us at the Maranatha
Baptist Church in Elkton, Maryland. Last year, we had our best attended meeting
ever. Why not beat that record this July 19-20? The church has a
large seating capacity - about 450. Come and be with us!
Our host church has many ministries that you will want to see
firsthand. (1) Dr. Dickerson has a radio station, WOEL, which
reaches out all around the area. No doubt some of our DBS messages will be
broadcast over that station. (2) He has a mission agency (The
Antioch Baptist Mission) that sends out many missionaries from his local
church to many areas of the world. (3) He has a newspaper (The
Maranatha Watchman) that also goes out around the world. (4)
He has a printing ministry that has been used of the Lord in printing thousands
of gospel tracts for various mission fields. (5) He has a Fundamentals
of the Faith Bible Conference each year in March that brings in speakers,
pastors and others from all over. The conference majors on the Fundamentals of
the Bible. (6)
He has a K-12 Christian School. (7) He has an accredited Maryland
Baptist Bible College and Seminary. (8) He has a Maranatha
Camp Meeting grounds. Come and see it all.
Here is the general schedule of activities for Wednesday
and Thursday, July 19-20, 2000. As the time approaches, we will be giving you the speakers
and titles.

Our DBS '99, 21st Annual Meeting
Our Dean Burgon Society expresses our thanks to the HERITAGE
BAPTIST UNIVERSITY in Greenwood, Indiana, our hosts for our 21st DBS annual
meeting. The meals were fine and the fellowship was enjoyed by all. This was our
best attended meeting in our history of 21 years. The DBS Women had a record and
the DBS Executive Committee did also. We are grateful for the publicity from the
University and also that given by David Cloud on his Internet web page.
As always, we have tapes of the DBS '99 messages. The audio
tapes are nine in number (BFT #2950/1-9) are for a GIFT of $25.00
+ $4 S&H. The three, 6-hour video tapes (BFT #2950VC1-3)
are for a GIFT of $35.00 + $4 S&H.
If you are interested in our DBS Message Book for 1999,
it is available now. Each speaker who gave the office his manuscript is included
in this Message Book '99. It is 181 large pages. The number of the
book is #2950-P for a GIFT of $18.00+$4 S&H. Why not order it!
The Dean Burgon Society is pleased to announce the
availability of two new books published by the DBS Press:
(1) Dean Burgon's book, Inspiration
and Interpretation, was
completed in time for the July, 1999, 21st annual meeting of our Dean Burgon
Society. It is a hardback. This book shows that Dean Burgon had a fearless
Biblical faith. The first part of the book answers Essays and Reviews,
written by six apostate Church of England clergymen and one other. The last part
of the book gives Dean Burgon's lectures to his pre-ministerial students. He
defends the plenary, verbal inspiration of the Bible. #1220 @ $25 + $4
S&H.
(2) Dr. Jack Moorman's book, Forever
Settled, was also published in 1999 by the DBS. It is a hardback book,
showing the history of both the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts. It defends the
preservation of the Bible's Words. It has been used as a textbook in several
fundamental institutions. It is #1428 for a GIFT of $20.00 + $4
S&H.
You should get a copy of both these good books for your
pastor, your friends, your church, college, and seminary libraries. Even those
who are on the "other side" of our "Defense of Traditional Bible
Texts," should study our viewpoint as expressed in these books.
During 1999, some of the members of our Dean Burgon Society
family have also published books you might like to own.
(1) Dr. James H. Sightler wrote A
Testimony Founded For Ever - The King James Bible Defended in Faith and History.
It is a 312 page perfect bound book (#2954 @ $19.00 + S&H) with a
wealth of information concerning the history of the harmful philosophy of Bishop
Westcott and Professor Hort. It also deals with many other topics pertinent to
the battle for our Bible.
(2) Dr. Jack Moorman wrote Bible Chronology - The Two Great Divides. It is 160 large
pages, Xeroxed (#2934 @ $16.00 +S&H). He proves the Bible's inerrant
chronology down to the details. After comparing seven chrono-logical systems,
he comes up with a satisfactory answer to two difficult problems: (1) from the
Exodus to the temple; and (2) from Cyrus to Alexander.
(3) Pastor D. A. Waite, our DBS President, wrote three
books: (a) Central Seminary Refuted on Bible Versions
(#2926, 180 pages, perfect bound, @ $10.00 + $3 S&H). This is
an answer to Central Seminary's book, The Bible Version Debate. It is a
defense from the firm base of the King James Bible and the Masoretic Hebrew and
Received Greek texts that underlie it. (b) Fundamentalist Distortions
on Bible Versions (#2928-P, 80 pages,
perfectbound @ $7.00 + $3 S&H).
This is an analysis of a video sponsored by nine representatives of seven
so-called "major fundamentalist institutions." There are a total of 28
serious distortions that these
representatives made on the subject of Bible versions. (c) Fundamentalist MIS-INFORMATION
on Bible Versions Fundamentalist MIS-INFORMATION
on Bible Versions (#2974, 144 pages,
perfectbound @ $7.00+$3 S&H. An answer to From the Mind of God to
the Mind of Man which is backed by Bob Jones University and its president.
There are a total of 118 items of MIS-INFORMATION documented and
refuted. This book should be read by every pastor and Christian in the world!
(4) Rev. David Cloud, one of our new
members of the DBS Advisory Council, has written many books and articles
on this theme. Everyone should get Examining 'The King James Only
Controversy.' It is 135 pages, (#2988 for a GIFT of $8+S&H.
Brother Cloud has written many good books defending our King James Bible and its
texts.
